We present detailed microscopic simulations of high-energy cosmic-ray air showers penetrating high-altitude ice layers that can be found at the polar regions. use a combination CORSIKA Monte Carlo code and Geant4 simulation toolkit, focus on particle cascade develops in to describe its most prominent features. discuss impact layer total number particles function depth shower, we give general parameterization charge distribution front Xmax cosmic ray which used for analytical semi-analytical calculations expected Askaryan radio emission in-ice cascade. show core shower dominates during propagation ice, therefore creating an strongly resembling neutrino-induced Finally, results cascade, showing is dominated by core, feasibility detecting plasma created using RADAR echo techniques.
